Commuters taking the Hosur Road, Jigani and Bannerghatta Road can hope for a better ride as the BBMP plans to take up road-widening work between these major commercial hubs. As the first step, BBMP will call for tenders to conduct a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed road widening work between Hosur and Begur Roads. The BBMP proposes to widen the 4.3-km-long road between Bommanahalli Signal on Hosur Road and Begur Village. This will ease the commute towards Jigani, Bannerghatta Road, Hosur Road and Electronics City.
Currently, the road is just 25-foot wide and the BBMP wants to widen the road to 80 foot. However, it hasn’t yet identified the properties it would need to acquire along the stretch to widen the road.
An official from BBMP told Bangalore Mirror, “With this, at least 20% of the traffic can be reduced along Hosur Road, Silk Board and Bannerghatta Road. The tender for DPR will be called in a month and once the properties are acquired, the road widening work will be completed in six months.
